At last weekends Moto GP race at Laguna Seca Casey Stoner finished second and Nicky Hayden finished in fifth. Still no official word if Rossi has signed with Ducati for 2011 yet. World Superbike races at Silverstone this weekend. In AMA Larry Pegram is in forth place on a privateer 1098R.

Ducati introduces the 2011 848EVO. As an early release for 2011 this model has 140 h.p. and 72 ft/lbs of torque while weighing only 369 lbs. The 848’s braking system has also been upgraded with Brembo Monobloc calipers. The price is the same as the 2010 models; $13,995 for red and $12,995 for Dark. We have two arriving at the end of August.

The big news is Casey Stoner will be leaving Ducati after this season to ride for the factory Honda team. There are reports of Valentino Rossi signing with Ducati for the next two years, but nothing official yet.
In WSBK at Brno Haga got a 5th and a 6th. Fabrizio didn’t finish race one and scored a 3rd in race two. Next up for WSBK is Silverstone on August 1st.
Moto GP goes to Sachsenring, Germany this weekend.

Multistrada wins Pikes Peak

Ducati’s Multistrada 1200S ridden by Greg Tracy took first place at last Sunday’s Pikes Peak Hillclimb. Tracey’s teammate Alexander Smith rounded out the podium with a third place finish.

796 Monster Arrives

The new 796 Monster arrives this weekend. As an early release model this bike makes 87 hp and 56 ft/lbs of torque with a dry weight of only 367 pounds. Styling includes a red trellis frame and ¼ stripes on the wheels. The 796 also has Ducati’s signature single sided swingarm and comes with Y-spoke cast aluminum wheels. It was a mixed weekend for the Ducati team in MotoGP. Hayden out qualified Stoner for the first time and just missed his first podium with Ducati on a last lap pass by Ben Spies.
Stoner got a terrible start, but charged through the field to finish 5th. The next round is 6/26 at Assen. WSBK will be racing 6/27 at Misano.

Although no Ducatis are racing at this year’s Isle of Man, one of Ducati’s most important race wins occurred on the Island on June 3rd 1978. Mike Hailwood came out of retirement to race a NCR 900 prepared by Steve Wynne of Sports Motorcycles. Hailwood won by over two minutes with an average speed of more than 108 mph, defeating the factory Honda and rider Phil Read. The following year Ducati introduced the Mike Hailwood Replica and produced that model until 1986. In 2000 Ducati came out with the limited production Mike Hailwood 900 Evoluzione or MH900e.

In last weekends WSBK round from Miller Haga scored a 3rd and 4th. Carlos Checa retired while leading both races with problems.
In the Italian round of MotoGP from Mugello Stoner and Hayden qualified 3rd and 4th. The big news is Rossi’s practice crash. Valentino suffered a broken right leg and is expected to miss the next four races. Rossi has never missed a race since he started his GP career in 1996 in the 125 class.

We have some new models that we haven’t posted pictures of yet on the site. Everyone knows about the new Multistrada, but we also have the 796 Hypermotard in dark, red or white. We have one Hypermotard EVO SP. This bike has an Ohlins shock, longer travel 50 mm Marzocchi forks, Brembo Monobloc calipers and forged aluminum Marchesini wheels. Last but not least is the 1198S Corse Special Edition. This Superbike includes an aluminum gas tank, Termignoni slip ons and a rear stand. It also has a special paint scheme in Ducati Corse colors. We hope to have some pictures of these bikes posted soon.

In last weekends French round of MotoGP, Nickey Hayden continued his strong run of finishes by passing Dani Pedrosa on the last lap to finish 5th. Nickey is now only three points out of third place in the rider's championship behind Dovizioso and Pedrosa. Stoner crashed out early in the race.
The U.S. round of WSBK is this weekend from Miller Motorsports Park in Utah. It looks like a promising round for Ducati with Carlos Checa on pole, Jakub Smrz is 4th and Haga 6th. Both races will be shown on Speed at 5pm on Monday.
At the Springfield Mile dirt track race Joe Knopp came in 5th on his Ducati Sport Classic.
In the Isle of Man TT races, Michael Rutter will now be riding for Honda instead of Ducati. Rutter will be riding for the HM Plant Honda team replacing Steve Plater who was injured in a crash at the Northwest 200. The TT runs from May 29 to June 11.

It has been an up and down season so far for the factory WSBK team. At Assen the privateer Ducatis of Checa and Smrz finished 4th and 7th. Haga finished 6th in race one at Monza with Fabrizio crashing out. In race two Fabrizio ended up 7th with Haga coming in 11th. At Kyalami Fabrizio and Checa finished 1st and 2nd in race one and Checa came in 5th in race two.
Things could get better for the factory team with the rumored Troy Bayliss comeback in June. We can only hope!
Nickey Hayden seems to be getting up to speed on the MotoGP bike with two 4th place finishes at Quatar and Jerez. Stoner crashed out of the lead at Quatar and scored a 5th place at Jerez.
This weekend MotoGP races at LeMans in France. In the first practice Stoner is 2nd and Hayden is 7th.
Also of interest is Brit Michael Rutter running a 1098R at the Isle of Man TT in June. On May 3rd Ducati won their first ever AMA Pro Flat Track win in Arizona. Joe Kopp rode a modified Ducati Sport Classic to a win over the class favorite Harley Davidson XR750.
Finally on June 26 and 27 at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb Ducati is entering the new Multistrada 1200 to compete.
